Al Mithal was born into a family that pioneered the moving business in India. It would be fair to say that moving is in his blood. His own experience in the moving industry spans a period of 40 years.

After completing his schooling and graduation, with Honors’, in India, he moved to Washington D.C. for an advanced course in Traffic Management and Transportation Control. On successfully completing this course in 1975, he joined Merchants International, which at that time, was one of the leading moving companies in the Washington D.C. area, where he worked at the Company’s International Moving Division and also as Merchant’s Implant at the World Bank Shipping Office, Washington, D.C.

Al returned to India in 1976 and immediately joined the family moving & forwarding business, where he was instrumental in the rapid growth of the business in diversified areas of freight forwarding, international moving and exhibition handling.

In 1996 he established Star Worldwide Movers as an independent company, fully owned by him and his wife Tanu, with a clear objective to become one of India's premier moving companies, an objective which they achieved in the shortest possible time. Since then, the Star Worldwide Group has also diversified into Relocations, Fine Art Handling and Records Management.

Al is also the 1st Indian & 2nd Asian to be the president of FIDI in the history of 60 years. He has attended many industry seminars and courses, including the first FIDI Advanced Management Seminar in 1995, where he strongly advocated the need for developing a world class IT system for FIDI, something he hopes to help FIDI achieve in the coming years. He has been a spokesperson at many national & international conventions related to Fine Art; He is also a member of the Logistics Committee of the Indo American Chamber of Commerce.
